Special Feature: RS-5

The RS-5 is the most advanced of rocketships in Earth's fleet. The development of antigravity brought with it the newer flying saucer designs for the Rocket League. But while these saucers had superior maneuverability, they could never match the top speeds of some of the fleet's rocketships, such as the RS-3. Therefore, the relevance of atomic rocketry continues to this day. The RS-5 is the first rocketship class to employ antigravity systems. While atomic rockets give the RS-5 its high speeds, the antigravity systems make it the most maneuverable rocket available.

More significantly, antigravity allows the RS-5 to land on its side; the first time such a design had been utilized. Earlier class rockets contained many decks with a small floor area. Being a side-lander allows the RS-5 to have fewer decks, with a larger floor area on each one. This means more efficient use of space and less time for the crew transitioning from deck to deck.

The RS-5's unique lateral-quad thruster configuration allows the direct rear of the rocketship house a seated ray turret. But the more powerful defense system on the RS-5 is its forward mounted heavy ray cannon. While this cannon lacks the arc of the aft weapon, the RS-5s antigravity powered maneuverability make bringing the forward ray to bear a synch!
